WaSHETHON: Promoting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH)
On September 15, 2024, the Ladli Foundation organized WaSHETHON, the largest-ever marathon dedicated to promoting the cause of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) at the historic Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur, Karnataka. The event was part of the Resilient Communities and Schools through WaSHE initiative, aimed at raising awareness and fostering community engagement around critical WaSH issues. Over 10,000 enthusiastic young participants took part in this vibrant marathon, demonstrating their commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
The event was flagged off by a distinguished lineup of dignitaries, including Sh. Sivananda Patil, Cabinet Minister of Karnataka; Sh. T. Bhoobalan, IAS, District Magistrate of Bijapur; Sh. Rishi Anand, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat; and Sh. Rishikesh Sonwane, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Bijapur. Their presence underscored the importance of WaSH initiatives in building resilient communities.
