PATHANSHALA
SUMMARY
The Pathanshala Project provides free, quality education to 10,000 underprivileged children in slums across Delhi, Gurgaon, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan. Targeting school dropouts, child laborers, and children forced into begging, Pathanshala uses mobile classrooms to deliver basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills, including POCSO awareness and child rights. In partnership with Byju’s, it offers digital learning tools to sustain engagement. Parents are sensitized on child rights and education's value, while students are prepared for formal school enrollment, creating a pathway to long-term educational success.
CAUSE
In India, where 30% of the population lives below the poverty line, children in slums face severe educational challenges, with 5.3% aged 6-17 out of school and literacy rates below the national average. Limited resources, lack of schooling, and risks like early marriage and child labor, especially for girls, exacerbate these issues. The Pathanshala Project tackles these disparities by providing structured, accessible education and essential resources, empowering slum children and their families to overcome barriers and build a brighter future.
OUR ACTION
The Pathanshala Project operates eight mobile classroom centers in highly underserved slum and red-light areas.
Our curriculum covers essential subjects like reading, writing, and math while incorporating a creative syllabus to sustain student interest.
We provide every child with necessary materials—books, stationery, and learning kits—and, through our partnership with Byju’s, offer premium subscriptions to bolster learning with engaging digital content.
Our program also includes critical awareness and life skills education.
Childrens are taught about important issues like good and bad touch and POCSO
We assist students of Pathanshala in enrolling then to the nearby government schools.
To strengthen community support, we conduct sensitization sessions for parents, covering child rights and the importance of continuing education.
IMPACT
The Pathanshala Project addresses educational disparities for 10,000 underprivileged children by providing academic instruction, essential resources, and digital tools in partnership with Byju’s. By delivering education directly to underserved areas, the project breaks cycles of poverty, fosters excitement for learning, and equips children with safety, health, and child rights knowledge. Many students transition to government schools, supported by parental awareness sessions. Pathanshala empowers communities, drives sustainable change, and prepares children for brighter futures, contributing to a more equitable and educated society.
