Drug Prevention
Introduction
Ladli Foundation is dedicated to combating the silent epidemic of drug abuse in India, a crisis that severely impacts youth, families, and communities across the nation. Alarming statistics from a 2019 report by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment reveal that 5.7 crore (57 million) Indians are affected by harmful alcohol use, 2.7 crore (27 million) are dependent on drugs like opioids and cannabis, and around 8.5 lakh (850,000) individuals inject drugs, with many users being young adults. States such as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, and Maharashtra report some of the highest rates of substance abuse, often fueled by factors like peer pressure, unemployment, limited awareness, and the easy availability of drugs. Ladli Foundation’s mission aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and seeks to empower vulnerable youth, equipping them with skills, education, and opportunities that redirect them away from addiction. Through a holistic approach encompassing physical, mental, and social well-being, the foundation addresses the root causes of addiction, creating paths for brighter futures and healthier lives. As a leader in drug prevention, Ladli Foundation’s innovative programs help at-risk youth overcome challenges and avoid substance abuse, reinforcing values of resilience and empowerment. Additionally, the foundation’s work supports multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, gender equality, reduced inequalities, and peace and justice, ensuring that young people receive the support they need to thrive. By fostering community engagement and providing comprehensive support, Ladli Foundation remains a beacon of hope in India’s fight against drug abuse, transforming lives and building a society where every young individual can reach their full potential.

Stories of Change
My name is Lucky Singh, and I live in Dakshinpuri. I lost my father due to substance abuse, and growing up in an area where it was so common, I was slowly getting attracted to it as well. Due to the influence of those around me, I found myself moving in the same direction. However, thankfully, Ladli Foundation came into my life through the Josh program. They sensitized me about the dangers of substance abuse and provided me with fitness and dance training. This has helped me shift my focus and energy, steering me away from the harmful path of substance abuse. I am deeply thankful to Ladli for helping me transform my life.

My name is Ritik, and I live in Sangam Vihar. At the age of 15, I became addicted to substance abuse and stopped studying after class 8. My life was consumed by drugs, especially during the dark hours, which was when my friends and I would indulge in these harmful habits. But then, Ladli Foundation came into my life and helped me restart my journey. They engaged me in sports activities, particularly during those peak hours when we would typically use substances. These activitiestired our bodies out, and for the first time, we started going home and sleeping easily, without the need for drugs. After overcoming these bad habits, Ladli Foundation also supported me in continuing my studies. I am forever grateful to them for helping me break free from addiction and giving me the chance to rebuild my life and education

My name is Kamal, and I live in RK Puram. I was once trapped in the vicious cycle of drug addiction, and my life felt like it was heading nowhere. But everything changed when I became part of the Josh program by Ladli Foundation. Through their support, I got exclusively involved in volleyball, which helped me find a purpose and a way out of addiction. This journey has been like a transformation from hell to heaven. Today, I am a volleyball trainer, and I’m proud to be helping others the way I was helped. Thanks to Ladli Foundation, I have a new life and a new career, and I am forever grateful for their support in turning my life around.
